WHAT TO EXPECT
We believe engaging a garden designer should be an enjoyable experience.
Our approach is collaborative and, once what you want to achieve is established, it's about making all the pieces fit together
coherently and with the desired aesthetic.
THE DESIGN PROCESS
An initial consultation provides an opportunity for you to understand how we can work together, to get to know more about you and the people who are going to use the garden and what you want to achieve.
We'll discuss your preferences and requirements and, it also allows us to start to understand the garden space itself.
You will receive a written proposal based on the above information along with a fee schedule.
Depending on what you are looking to achieve there are a number of options and approaches:
STAGE 1: INFORMATION GATHERING
Site measurement and appraisal
Production of preliminary
ideas for discussion
STAGE 2: CONCEPT STAGE
A concept plan is developed plus any visuals required to help bring
the concept to life.
Here any further, required development of the design is identified.
STAGE 3: MASTER PLAN
The final design or Master Plan is a hand drawn and rendered, scale drawing of the design. This stage includes any elevations, perspective or axonometric drawings considered necessary to help you visualise the design.
STAGE 4: TECHNICAL DRAWINGS
Once the Master Plan has been agreed,
setting out plans to show measurements and any necessary design specifics are produced. These allow a landscaper to provide an accurate quote for the work required and go on to implement your design. Or, if you are looking to build the garden yourself, provide a
blueprint to work to.
Hannah does not provide construction monitoring however, she can make site visits during the landscaping to review progress and any changes required.
Guidance on engaging with landscapers can also be provided.
If you are happy with the overall structure of your garden, revisiting the planting can invigorate or transform its look and feel.
An initial consultation and survey of the required areas is undertaken and you will get a scale plan with plant names, numbers and positions within the garden for you to source and plant at your leisure or, Hannah can source and plant for you.
Plans are priced by area and preferred planting style.
Hannah can also provide practical advice to getting the most out of your outdoor space, remotely.
Distance design is suitable for straightforward sites and requires photos, measurements and enthusiasm from you, the Client!
She can provide a range of drawings that allow you to work towards your ideal garden at your own pace or, with the assistance of a professional landscaper.
This typically involves a site meeting of 1-2 hours to review and discuss your garden. It can include on-the-spot suggestions for design, styling or planting, ideas for future landscaping projects or advice on how to make your garden more resilient in our changing climate.
The visit can be followed up with a written summary of points discussed and ideas for next steps.
What's covered is driven by what you need and it's a great way to gain a new perspective on your garden space.
If it's impractical to visit your garden,
it may be possible to discuss your project using Zoom.
Photos or short video clips of your garden are a useful starting point and Hannah will follow up with suggestions and any visuals that will set you in the right direction to achieve your aims.
